Friday 2 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm (UK time)

History of the Book Room, St Cross Building (English Faculty), Manor Road, OX1 3UL

Please note that this event is NOT at Wolfson College.

Join us for the final Laura Marcus Life-Writing Workshop of the academic year.

This workshop will discuss the boundaries of life-writing: how much can the self, one's own or that of others, be invented or imagined or re-created; how much must biography stick to the facts; how much can hypothesis and imagination make up for gaps in the record; what is the relation between history and fiction in the multivarious discipline of life-writing?

Participants are invited to bring examples in their own work-in-progress, or in life-writings they have read, of the challenges around "making things up".

This workshop will be facilitated by Professor Hermione Lee and Professor Elleke Boehmer.

Please Note: Workshop places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with priority given to members of the English Faculty. This event is only open to members of Oxford University. Click here to register.

Tea/coffee and cake will be served during the workshop.

This event will take place in the St Cross building on Manor Road (more information). Attendees are advised to wear face coverings while indoors and to use an LFT prior to the event.

Please address any queries to our events administrator.
