Harriet Boyd-Bennett is a musicologist and cultural historian. Most of her work to date has concerned music in twentieth-century Italy, including publications on workers’ songs in interwar Italy, music and futurism, and opera and music theatre in relation to fascism and the rise of new technologies. Her first book, Opera in Postwar Venice: Cultural Politics and the Avant-Garde (Cambridge University Press, 2018), was awarded the 2019 Kurt Weill Book Prize. Her current research looks at the role of women in the history of electronic music.
